Camp Jump Start (‘we”, “our”, or “us”) is in the business of educating people on healthy lifestyles so they can prevent, reverse, or stop the progression of disease. We strive to raise awareness and attain desirable outcomes through educational materials, our youth camp, and online group sessions (collectively, “Services”). This privacy notice explains how Camp Jump Start collects and uses personal information from you when you visit our website, register for our services, or otherwise interact with us.

Scope of the statement

This Privacy Notice applies to personal information (“information”) we collect from and about individuals who share information with us via our website, purchase or use our Services, or otherwise interact with us.

We may change this Privacy Notice from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the statement and, in some cases, including if we make material changes, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our homepage or sending you a notification). We encourage you to review the Privacy Notice whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our information practices and the choices available to you.

Collection of Information

We collect personal information you provide to us directly through this website and during the Camp Jump Start Training Camp. If you are a young person taking our camps, we may also collect information about you directly from your parent or guardian. We only have access to and collect information that you voluntarily give us via email, when you fill out a form on our website, or through other direct contact from you.

Throughout this policy, we use the term “personal information.” Personal information includes information that identifies you or relates to you such as your name, phone number, mailing address, email address, health information, general location, unique device identifiers, and other demographic and financial information. Personal information may also include information which helps us understand your preferences so that we may offer you products and services that may interest you. Personal information does not include information that is not reasonably linkable to an individual, or information that has been de-identified or aggregated. All personal health information you share with us will be aggregated and not linked to other personal information you share with us.

i) Information You Provide to Us

We collect your information when you interact with us, such as when you enroll on our website or enroll your child on our website, purchase our Services, when you or your child participate in our online programming or live programming, participate in any interactive features of the Services, fill out a form, communicate with us, request customer support, or otherwise communicate with us. When you make a payment to Living Well Foundation for Camp Jump Start programs, or donate to Camp Jump Start, we collect specific information that is used to process and acknowledge your payment.

ii) Types of Personal Information we Collect

We may collect any or all of the following types of personal information from or about you, or from or about you on behalf of your child:

• Identifiers such as first and last name
• Personal characteristics such as age or date of birth
• Address information, or information about where you or your child lives
• Other outcome and goal-oriented information you choose to provide such as the weight of your child and any medical conditions or diagnoses of your child. This information is purely optional
• Device information such as IP address
• Billing information, such as your billing address and the date you paid us, so that we can keep a record of payments for our Services. All payments and payment-related information (i.e., credit card information) is processed by our third-party payment processor. We do not directly collect credit card or financial information from you
• Photographs, videos, statements, likenesses, and testimonial letters provided by you for instructional, promotional, broadcast, or public relations purposes
• Parent income, for the purpose of offering scholarships and nonprofit reporting requirements
• Any other information you choose to provide to us
• Any other information you consent to provide to us at the time we collect it

Use of Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our Services, including to provide you Services. We also use the information we collect to:

• Offer our Services, including our in-person Camp Jump Start camps and online programming;
• Measure your progress or your child’s progress in our in-person or online programming;
• Respond to your comments, questions and customer service requests;
• Communicate with you about Services and offers and provide news and information we think will be of interest to you;
• Process donations to our camp and to our 501(c)(3) partner, Living Well Foundation, who operates the camps;
• Monitor and analyze trends, usage and activities in connection with our Services;
• Understand progress and outcomes, including for research and educational purposes. All data used for research and educational purposes is de-identified or used in the aggregate and cannot reasonably be used to identify you;
• Carry out any other purpose described to you at the time the information was collected.

Sharing of Information

We may share information about you as follows or as otherwise described in this Privacy Notice:

• With vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf;
• In response to a request for information if we believe disclosure is advisable or required, including to comply with any law, legal process or a request by public authorities or third parties;
• Aggregated and anonymized data may be shared with vendors, consultants and other service providers for industry analysis and to measure outcomes;
• With your consent or your parent’s consent, as applicable, or at your direction or your parent’s direction, as applicable (e.g., with health care providers upon your parent’s request)
• If you participate in one of our Zoom group sessions, it is up to you what you share.  You may refuse email sharing with other participants by providing this refusal in writing sent to contact@campjumpstart.com upon enrollment.  If you do not opt-out of email sharing via the above method, parent emails may be shared with other participants.  Parent email is how your child will access the mobile web app so parents have control and can monitor activity.  Minor age participants may share their contact information with other minor age participants, but the parent is still responsible for monitoring their child’s online presence.

We may also share aggregated or de-identified information, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you including for research and educational purposes.

We do not sell or rent your Personal Information to anyone. Living Well Foundation licenses the Camp Jump Start program and operates Camp Jump Start Programs.  Living Well Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies on the generous support of our donors. Accordingly, your personal information or your child’s personal information may be disclosed to Living Well Foundation in order to help us operate our Services.

Your Access to and Control Over Information

You may opt out of future contacts from us at any time. Please note that if you opt-out, we may still send you legally required notices, or information that is necessary to fulfill your order or your request to us.

You can also do the following at any time by contacting us via contact@campjumpstart.com:

• See what data we have about you, if any.
• Change or correct any data we have about you.
• Request we delete any identifiable data we have about you.
• Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes. If you make a request to delete your information, to access your information, or to correct your information, we may take steps to verify that the request is valid, including that you are the person making the request or that you are authorized to make the request on behalf of the person. If you are a parent, you may make any of the above requests on behalf of your minor child.

Data Retention

We store the information we collect about you for as long as is necessary for the purpose(s) for which we originally collected it. We may retain certain information for legitimate business purposes or as required by law.

Security

Camp Jump Start makes protecting your information a priority and we take precautions to protect your information. When you submit information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. We employ reasonable physical, technical, and administrative security measures to safeguard your information and to help prevent unauthorized access and disclosure of personal information, including encryption and other measures. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. However, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.  

Our Policy Towards Minors

While all individuals can benefit from the Services, the Services are mainly directed to persons under 18. That said, we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18 and we use reasonable methods to obtain verifiable parental consent to collect information from individuals under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personal information without their consent, he or she should contact us at contact@campjumpstart.com.  

COPPA Notice

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and its rules (collectively, “COPPA”) require us to inform parents and legal guardians (as used in this section, “parents”) about our practices for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information from children under the age of 13 (“children”) collected through the website. It also requires us to obtain verifiable consent from a child’s parent for certain collection, use, and disclosure of the child’s personal information.

This section notifies parents of:

• The types of information we may collect from children through the website.
• How we use the information we collect through the website.
• Our practices for disclosing the information we collect through the website.
• Our practices for notifying and obtaining parents’ consent when we collect personal information from children through the website, including how a parent may revoke consent.
• All operators that collect or maintain information from children through this website and our Services.

This section only applies to information we collect from children under the age of 13 and to information collected through the website. The other provisions of this privacy noticeapply to data collection from teens and adults, as well as collection that occurs outside of the website.

i) Information We Collect from Children through the Website

We strive to collect all personal information about children directly from their parent or guardian. We do not ask for or knowingly accept personal information provided directly by children, and children can access many parts of the website and its content, and use many of its features without providing us with personal information. However, some content and features provide space to share certain information, and a child may providepersonal information without our knowledge.

We only collect information about a child that is provided by the child’s parent and only as much information about a child as is reasonably necessary for the child to participate in the Services. We do not condition the child’s participation on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary. Generally, the information we need to collect about children in order to provide their services are their first and last name and age. You may choose to provide us with additional information about your child, including their weight and any medical diagnoses or conditions that may be relevant for us to provide their Services. This information is not required. Of course, it is always a good idea to speak to your health care professional before beginning a physical activity.

ii) How We Use Your Child’s Information

We use the personal information we collect from your child through the website to:

• register him or her for the Services;
• provide him or her with the Services;
• communicate with your child, with your consent;
• track his or her performance to measure outcomes; and
• analyze site usage and trends to improve the website and to maintain the security of the website.

We aggregate the information we collect and may also analyze the device information we collect to improve our Service and to deliver a better and more personalized experience by enabling us to:

• Estimate our audience size and usage patterns.
• Measure outcomes for our Services.

iii) Our Practices for Disclosing Children’s Information

We do not sell, rent, or transfer children’s personal information.

We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual. In addition, we may disclose children’s personal information:

• To third parties we use to support the internal operations of our website and who are bound by contractual or other obligations to use the information only for such purpose and to keep the information confidential.
• If we are required to do so by law or legal process, such as to comply with any court order or subpoena or to respond to any government or regulatory request.
• If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Camp Jump Start, our customers or others, including to:
o protect the safety of a child;
o protect the safety and security of the website;
o enable us to take precautions against liability; or
o respond to law enforcement agencies or for an investigation related to public safety.

iv) Accessing and Correcting Your Child’s Personal Information

At any time, you may review your child’s personal information maintained by us, require us to correct or delete the personal information, and/or refuse to permit us from further collecting or using the child’s information.

You can review, change, or delete your child’s personal information by:

• Sending us an email at contact@campjumpstart.com. To protect your privacy and security, we may require you to take certain steps or provide additional information to verify your identity before we provide any information or make corrections.

Transfer of Information to the U.S.

Camp Jump Start is based in the United States. Living Well Foundation, which operates Camp Jump Start, is also based in the United States. As such, we may transfer your information to, or store or access it in, jurisdictions that may not provide equivalent levels of data protection as your home jurisdiction, if you access our website or services outside the US. We will take steps to ensure that your personal data receives an adequate level of protection in the jurisdictions in which we process it.

Residents of the European Economic Area

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (“EEA”), you have certain rights and protections under the law regarding the processing of your personal data. i) Legal Basis for Processing

If you are a resident of the EEA, we will only process your personal data in the following situations:

• When we need to use your personal data to perform our responsibilities under our contract with you (e.g., providing the services you have requested).
• When we have a legitimate interest in processing your personal data. For example, we may process your personal data to send you marketing communications, to communicate with you about changes to our Services, to address issues related to your account, and to provide, secure, and improve our Services.    
• When you provide your consent to our processing, which you may revoke at any time.
ii) Data Subject Requests

If you are a resident of the EEA, you have the right to access personal data we hold about you and to ask that your personal data be corrected, erased, or transferred. You may also have the right to object to, or request that we restrict, certain processing. If you would like to make any of these requests, you may contact us as indicated below.
